External DC12V is the only way to power the board.
1.4 Programmer/Debugger Requirement
There is no any programmer or Debugger included or Integrated on the openMC9S12 pro board. An external programmer or Debugger is required to download code.It supports many Programmers or Debuggers by Freescale or Third party,like USBDM etc.

1.5 Buy a USBDM for the Development board If you dont have.
